Intelligent work and resource scheduling system for a gas infrastructure contractor
This project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 programme (Fundusze Europejskie dla Nowoczesnej Gospodarki). It is carried out within the Unicorn Hub Startup Booster acceleration programme, on the Technology Recipient cooperation track, through the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP).
The project designs and deploys an intelligent construction work scheduling system for a gas infrastructure contractor. The system automates work plan generation and construction crew assignment, accounting for crew availability and project constraints, replacing planning processes that are handled manually today. It is built on constraint-based scheduling engines and designed as an advisory tool: the planner keeps full control and can adjust any decision the system proposes.

Project goals
- Replace manual work and resource planning with a repeatable, automated process.
- Cut the time needed to produce a schedule and reduce how often plans have to be reworked.
- Capture crew availability and hard project constraints in a single model.
- Keep the planner in charge: the system advises and proposes, a human approves.
- Validate the solution in a real operating environment as the basis for further commercialisation.

Results and deliverables
- Audit report on automating the work and resource planning process, approved by the Technology Recipient.
- Report on the system mockups and the UX/UI review carried out with planners.
- A working prototype (PoC) running in a test environment and verified through user acceptance testing.
- The system deployed in the Technology Recipient's production environment and validated on real planning scenarios.
- Validation report with satisfaction survey results, an improvement register and a development roadmap.

Audit of automation in the work and resource planning process
- Map of the current planning process: data sources, decision points and constraints.
- Catalogue of identified automation opportunities and manual steps.
- Analysis of the time and cost of the current process, including estimated savings potential.
- Analysis of requirements for possible integrations with the Technology Recipient's systems and infrastructure.
- Recommended prototype scope and architecture as input to the next stage.
Scheduling system prototype (PoC)
- System mockups for each role and the key screens, reviewed in UX/UI sessions with planners.
- Implementation of the core planning functions identified in the audit, including hard constraints.
- Automatic work plan generation, handed to the planner for validation.
- Prototype running in an isolated test environment.
- User acceptance testing (UAT) with planners and a demo of the working solution.
Production deployment and validation on real data
- Deploying the system in the production environment and running it on real data.
- Testing by the Technology Recipient's team against an acceptance checklist.
- Measuring schedule preparation time against the baseline estimated during the audit.
- Satisfaction survey among planners and decision makers at the Technology Recipient.
- Improvement register and a roadmap for the system's further development.
